A Little Richard Beat Battle & Art Experience
August 15·Macon, Georgia
About the Event
The Rich Flip is a one-night cultural experience that puts two worlds in conversation: the rebellious, flamboyant genius of Little Richard—the architect of rock and roll who was born and buried in Macon—and the art form he made possible, hip-hop production. Producers will flip his catalog live, judges will deliberate, and Macon will be the stage.
Little Richard's influence is in every drum machine, every sample flip, every artist who decided to be undeniable on purpose. Hip-hop didn't just borrow from him—it inherits from him. The Rich Flip is a tribute that treats that debt seriously.
Macon is not a backdrop—it's the point. Little Richard is Macon. Otis Redding is Macon. The Allman Brothers are Macon. This city has one of the most concentrated music histories in America, and The Rich Flip brings hip-hop to that conversation, not as a guest but as a rightful heir.
BeatKonductaz is the DMV's premier producer battle organization. We don't just host events—we document culture. Our work in the DC/Maryland/Virginia area has established a model for honoring hip-hop production as a competitive art form. The Rich Flip is us taking that model national.
Macon Music Legacy
Macon, Georgia is one of the most musically significant cities in American history. The Rich Flip is not arriving in spite of that legacy—it's arriving because of it. This is the through-line from Richard Wayne Penniman to the drum machines that sampled his DNA.
The Full Experience
The Rich Flip is more than a beat battle. It is a full cultural evening—part competition, part gallery, part celebration. Tap any element to learn more.
Producers compete live, flipping Little Richard's catalog in real time. Judges score on creativity, technical skill, and how well the flip honors and evolves the source material.
Visual artists create original work inspired by the night's music in real time. Artwork produced during the event will be available for purchase, with a portion of proceeds supporting local arts initiatives.
DJ performances bridging Little Richard's era to modern hip-hop, funk, and soul. Sets are curated to tell a story, not just fill time between battles.
Curated local and regional vendors offering merchandise, art prints, apparel, and cultural products. Priority given to Black-owned and Macon-based businesses.
Southern comfort food and local Macon flavors. Food selection reflects the culture of the city we are visiting—not generic event catering.
A dedicated vinyl corner featuring Little Richard's original pressings, rare hip-hop 45s, and regional Georgia artists. For collectors and curious newcomers alike.
The Rich Flip is designed as a meeting point between DMV and Macon cultural communities. Artists, organizers, promoters, and fans will leave with new connections built on shared respect for the music.
The night closes with the presentation of The Rich Flip Award—given to the producer who best demonstrates that paying homage and pushing forward are not mutually exclusive.
Featured Guests
Janet Yancey—Ma Dukes—is the mother of the late J Dilla, one of the most influential hip-hop producers in history. Her presence at The Rich Flip connects Dilla's legacy of transformative sampling to the same spirit Little Richard embodied: make something that nobody has ever heard before.
Brooklyn-bred, globally respected. Shawn J Period is a producer and DJ whose work has shaped the sound of New York hip-hop and R&B across two decades. His approach to the drum machine and the sample is precisely the lineage The Rich Flip is celebrating.
Mexico City-based producer, visual artist, and cultural organizer. Boca Floja represents the global reach of hip-hop's DNA—a direct line from Little Richard's rhythm and roll to the boom bap beating in Latin America. Her presence makes The Rich Flip a hemispheric conversation.
The DC/Maryland/Virginia producer battle organization that built the template for this event. BeatKonductaz has been documenting and elevating hip-hop production culture in the DMV for years—and The Rich Flip is their first national chapter.
For Visit Macon
